RE:           Choosing a Lawyer

Most people don't think about choosing a lawyer until they desperately need the services of one. However, I've spent a lot of time thinking about these questions lately:

  • What's important to consumers and clients when they're facing bankruptcy, or litigation over their employment status, or some other critical consumer issue?
  • What kind of lawyer would I want to hire, were I in one of those situations?
  • What would make a potential client reject a particular lawyer? Leave a current law firm? Or choose not to recommend a past lawyer to friends and coworkers?

The answers to these questions have formed the framework of my law practice. For me, it's anything but "business as usual" as this excerpt from an article I wrote called "The Difference" makes clear. Part operating manifesto, part business plan, this document is what drives my law practice and the way I represent my clients.
